Geoff Milnes

A partner in the original firm of Milnes & Lockhart since 1972, Geoff is now a director of Milnes Beatson Ltd and has over 30 years of providing accounting services, taxation advice and business planning.  The Milnes family originated from Otago so Geoff completed his degree back in Dunedin and was employed by a national firm for a number of years.

Geoff has always enjoyed the extra client contact which inevitably occurs in a rural practice and strongly believes that a competent and experienced professional can fill more than just a compliance role for many of our clients.

Geoff is married with three adult children and has been involved in a wide range of community activities including service clubs, school boards, cricket, rugby, squash and golf participation and administration and tries to find spare time for fishing whenever possible.

David Beatson

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981 whilst working for the Inland Revenue Department.  In 1983 he joined the firm, which was then Milnes & Lockhart, as a staff accountant and became a partner in 1985.

Coming from a farming background David has built up a large client base comprising of a broad range farming and business activities.  David’s 25 plus years of experience in Public Practice provides a sound base for practical advise.  He is particularly interested in business development and assisting clients with succession planning.

Outside work David plays touch rugby and has completed several half marathons.  He is President of Roundtable No 37 and is a trustee of the Friends of Motueka Hospital Trust.

David has teenage children, Adele and Cameron.

Karen Sixtus

Karen has worked in the accountancy profession since 1994, and joined as a partner in 2000, and is now a director of Milnes Beatson Ltd.  Karen has been involved in the ownership of two businesses.

Karen comes from a rural background and continues to enjoy providing advice to rural clients along with a variety of other businesses.  She also has the role of practice manager within the firm.

Karen’s sporting interests have been severely hampered by knee surgeries but she is keen to participate again in touch rugby, netball and tramping.

When not working Karen’s time is spent with her two young children.

Grant Inglis

Grant qualified with a BCom in 1993, and became a fully qualified Chartered Accountant in 1997.   He worked for 10 years in a Chartered Accounting firm in Nelson, and worked at Milnes Beatson for 4 years before gaining his Certificate of Public Practice in 2007. 

He has been a director at Milnes Beatson Ltd since that time.
Grant has a broad base of accountancy experience, which has come from dealing with clients in many different industries.  He has a keen interest in providing assistance to small to medium sized businesses and seeing their businesses grow.

Grant is married to Karina and has three young children.  His sporting interests include cricket and touch rugby.  He is also a treasurer of the Motu Weka Neighbourhood Centre and is a life member of the Huia Rugby Club.
